Diversity in the Economics Profession

Diversifying the field of economics has been a career passion for Janice.

She served for six years on the Committee on the Status of Minorities in the Economics Profession, an executive committee of the American Economic Association.  

In 2015, Janice co-organized the inaugural National Summit on Diversity in the Economics Profession with Professor Amanda Bayer of Swarthmore College.  The summit was held at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, DC.

The summit brought together presidents and research directors of the Federal Reserve Banks and chairs of economics departments from around the country to open a profession-wide dialogue about diversity. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen delivered the opening remarks.
