I am a potter and wood turner who creates fun, functional objects that I hope will make you smile. I find it deeply satisfying to turn raw materials into a finished product.  I began my training as a potter six years ago and my ceramics are all hand-thrown on a potter’s wheel.  I love dots and geometric shapes and you'll find them in many of my creations.  I was inspired as a little kid when I got the book The Dot and and the Line.  More recently, Yayoi Kusama's work has just blown me away.  The photo above was taken at her exhibition at the Hirshhorn Museum in DC.

I started turning wood more recently.  Wood turning and pottery have a great deal in common.  In all other forms of woodworking, the wood is stationary and it is the tool that is moving to create cuts. In woodturning, like in throwing clay on the wheel, the wood is turning on a lathe and the cutter is relatively stationary and uses hand-held tools to cut a shape into the wood. I begin with a raw piece of wood, mount it on the lathe and then begin carving away a shape.  I love the sense of anticipation as the grain, color and pattern of the wood emerge as I carve.

All the objects I make are food safe.  The ceramic pieces can go in the dishwasher or microwave if you are so inclined.  The wood pieces should be washed by hand.  My aspiration is that you will find joy from the objects I create.
